If you have a pending PG&E wildfire claim and need immediate financial assistance, pre-settlement funding can help.
The 2021 Dixie Fire, which was sparked in July 2021 when a tree struck power lines owned and operated by PG&E, grew to become California’s second largest wildfire in recorded history. The drought that year, combined with hot weather and strong winds, resulted in very active fire behavior that spread rapidly across Butte, Lassen, Plumas, Shasta and Tehama counties. The fire would eventually burn 963,309 acres and destroy over 1,300 structures before it was contained near the end of October, 2021.
The Dixie Fire was the most expensive wildfire in U.S. history, costing an estimated $637.4 million to fight and billions of further dollars in damages and insurance claims. PG&E also agreed in April to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to settle civil claims for its alleged responsibility for the fire. Under the terms of the settlement, PG&E will make payments to people who lost their homes in the Dixie Fire as well as penalties and other costs associated with improving the safety and reliability of its infrastructure.
The Dixie Fire was devastating to thousands of California families – many of whom lost their homes and everything they once knew. If you were involved in the fires, you may be dealing with significant physical or emotional injuries and large medical or construction bills all while trying to navigate a complicated insurance process and wondering what legal options you have.
Financial strain in these situations can add to the stress as many struggle to make ends meet and keep up with bills. If you have a pending PG&E wildfire claim and need immediate financial assistance, pre-settlement funding can help.
